A notebook for looking closely
Choosing a horizon
The position of the horizon changes how a landscape feels. A lower line gives more attention to the sky and a higher one to the ground.
Choose the subject first
Decide which part of the scene matters before dividing the frame. A rule is a starting point, not a reason to ignore the landscape.
Check the edges
Small distractions at the edge can outweigh a careful horizon. Inspect the corners before making the final frame.
